BACKGROUND
Rob comes from a family of designers, and contractors, with his Father an avid weekend renovator, Grandfather manager of Engineering and Construction firms and his Uncle & Great Uncle being architects.
Rob assisted his father to renovate multiple family homes from a very young age. From that interest he chose to study technical drawing through high school to understand more.
At age 15 he had his first taste of a professional career when he undertook work experience with his great uncle’s firm, Hudson Roussos Architects. The house he part drafted was probably his first building.
Thereafter he assisted friends, neighbours & close relatives renovate theirs homes too, leading to paid construction site work in late teens and twenties.

A career in Architecture was a early plan.
EDUCATION
Rob studied Architecture at the University of Tasmania, where he not only focused on designing buildings but on how to consider and emphasise the importance of people & place, environment and context.
He elected to focus on Ecological (Green) Design, Historical Design & the Theory and Practice of Cultural Heritage Management.

These vital components of design, often subtle but highly impactful, are engrained in his outlook now.
He later went on to study Management, Facilities Management, and Project Management, which led to him achieving Certified Practicing Project Management (CPPM) certification.
Along the way, he also expanded his knowledge further by successfully completing a range of short courses.
EXPERIENCE
While in his third year of studies, Rob began working at Michael Cooper and Associates (MCA) Architects, transitioning to a full-time position when he graduated in 1995. Company founder Mike became a mentor supporting Rob on his way to becoming a Registered Architect in 1999.
Alongside that support, Mike introduced Rob to many private clients with smaller projects more suited to a sole practitioner. This gave him the impetus to kick-start his own private career, and in 2001 after completing several hundred projects, he decided to expand his horizons and move overseas.
What was meant to be a two-year sidestep has now exceeded twenty.
